Carle Illinois Medicine - MBA Innovation Capstone

An interdisciplinary, entirely project-based year-long capstone hosted jointly between the Gies College of Business, the Carle College of Medicine, and the Grainger College of Engineering. During the capstone, students work in cross-disciplinary teams and apply their learnings from the MBA program in a holistic manner to develop a new product that addresses health care challenges. The capstone concludes with devising a business plan and go-to-market strategy.

Skills / Knowledge

  • Apply business principles and methodologies to evaluate the market opportunity and create an executable business plan
  • Effectively communicate new ideas and business strategies to different stakeholders
  • Help develop and validate novel and appropriate product concept to address the identified need
  • Identify and validate a healthcare related end-user pain point/problem/need
  • Manage and work with consultant teams
  • Understand and apply market feasibility study for the proposed product concept
  • Work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams and develop relationships with individuals and groups across disciplines
